HV1

Designed in 1968 by Arne Jacobsen,
the HV1 is a masterclass in geometric purity.

The first of its kind, the HV1 simplified tap design to essential circles and cylinders.
The HV1 became the blueprint for the
modern basin mixer. It is not just a tap.
It is a design classic, perfected.

Hand-soldered for a flawless finish without
a single visible joint

Defined by the VOLA signature geometry, the HV1 pairs cylindrical elements in carefully balanced proportions.
The slim lever and larger body create intuitive control and visual clarity. The deceptively simple design conceals complex manufacturing, which ensures a seamless form that architects continue to specify decades later. As part of the VOLA modular system, the HV1 iconic shape is available in an array of alternative formats including versions with different body, spout, and lever lengths and hands-free sensors.

VIEW OUR UNIQUE MODULAR SYSTEM
Since 1968 we have
built in the ability to configure all our products

Part of what makes VOLA truly different is our unique modular system. Designed with Arne Jacobsen’s original proportions of the 111, HV1 and KV1 built-in mixers, the VOLA modular system’s family of parts, including levers, handles, spouts and plates, are all interchangeable.

Our products form a family of parts that work together to provide the greatest possible flexibility

Handles and levers

There are a range of handles and levers to complement different lifestyles and preferences, creating maximum flexibility.

Extensions

Our products come in various spout and shower arm lengths and tap heights and can fit any bathroom.

Backplates

Backplates can be specified to easily fit within chosen tiling and interior schemes.

Order

Our products are flexible and can be arranged in a variety of ways to fit different spaces and preferences, making them highly functional.

Distance

The distance between products can be specified to suit your design. For example, you can select the space between the bars on the towel warmer to work with your preferred look and tile selection.

27 COLOURS AND FINISHES

Personalise any product with our extensive colours and finishes

Colour

VOLA introduced colour to kitchens and bathrooms in 1970, with ten options. We now have 15 shades to choose from, offering a wide range of characters and combinations to suit every kind of space and interior scheme. Each product is painted by hand in Denmark and is available across every product configuration.

Metallics

There are four metallic finishes in the VOLA standard range. These finishes provide a sophisticated and durable aesthetic, adding a touch of enduring elegance and style to any space.

*Natural brass as manufactured. Natural brass will patinate over time if left unpolished. As this is a natural process, every instance will be unique.

Exclusive Colour Series

Our Exclusive Colour Series has been developed to offer exceptional creative choice and personalisation. As these colours are not available at every VOLA dealer, please ask to be directed to the nearest Exclusive Colour Series dealer.

Handmade in Denmark

Every VOLA product is made to order by skilled craftspeople using high-grade materials and precision engineering ensuring each customer receives a true original. Our commitment to longevity is rooted in our engineering: our modular system allows the mechanics to be updated and repaired without disturbing the aesthetic form. By combining bespoke flexibility with precision craftsmanship, we ensure exceptional quality, a reduction in material waste, and a product that is engineered to stand the test of time.

MADE TO ORDER SINCE 1968
A heritage that continues to inspire and inform

We only make our products to order in Denmark. We manufacture to lean principles, making each individual product to order. This is something we take very seriously, ensuring we maintain control of every aspect of production.

Originality and authenticity: from 1968 onwards

Shortly after Danish architect Arne Jacobsen won a competition in 1961 for his design of Denmark’s Nationalbank he was contacted by Verner Overgaard, the owner of VOLA A/S, who introduced his proposal for a new type of wall-mounted mixer tap. Overgaard imagined a design where all the mechanical parts of the mixer were hidden, leaving only the handles and spout exposed. At the time, this was a completely new concept and Jacobsen realised that this idea combined with his functional approach to design had great potential. With that basic principle in mind, the simple VOLA design that we know today was conceived.

Making-without-taking

As Denmark has few natural resources, being mindful of consumption has been fundamental from the earliest days. This has contributed to the Danish focus on minimalism, enduring craft and pure design that continue to define the VOLA approach. By using only the highest-grade solid materials, we can recover, wash and reuse the material waste from production, allowing us to produce new cylinders of brass and stainless steel to create new products.

Only a unique craft can create a timeless finish

It’s only with great precision and attention to detail that we can deliver an exceptionally high-quality finish, retaining a minimal design and uncompromised form that will last for generations. By adhering to our original designs, the products last on an aesthetic level too, standing the test of time and transcending passing trends.

REPAIRABLE AND UPDATABLE
Designed and built to last generations

VOLA taps and accessories have been designed and made in Denmark since 1968. Our factory is home to generations of dedicated craftspeople, all of whom take great pride in continuing our Danish heritage of design and craft excellence.

Designed to remain relevant and never obsolete, since 1968

We plan our products’ endurance by designing them to be easily updated to extend their life and adapt to changing needs. This ensures that they remain an investment for the future.

At VOLA, we pride ourselves on a design philosophy that has remained steadfast since 1968. Our products stay true to their original, timeless design, avoiding fleeting trends that quickly become outdated. This commitment means that our products, including those crafted in 1968, maintain their relevance and elegance today and will continue to do so in the future.

Unlike trend-based designs, our products can always be updated or repaired, preserving their functionality and beauty indefinitely.
