Shortly after Arne Jacobsen won the competition in 1961 to design Denmark’s Nationalbank, VOLA owner Verner Overgaard approached him with a new idea: a built-in mixer with its mechanical parts concealed, leaving only the handle and spout visible. It was a completely new concept at the time.
Jacobsen recognised how naturally the idea aligned with his functional approach to design. Their collaboration led to the VOLA 111, the first fully integrated single-lever mixer tap. Unveiled at Denmark’s Nationalbank in 1968, it established the simple, distinctive design principles that continue to define VOLA today.
VOLA products have been celebrated globally for their originality since 1968. These iconic designs have earned numerous awards and are featured in prestigious museums, including MoMA in New York and Designmuseum in Denmark.
Renowned for their timeless elegance and innovative craftsmanship, VOLA products continue to set the standard in design excellence and still continue to be recognised and awarded today. All products are made to order in Denmark.

VOLA remains guided by the principles established in 1968: simplicity, functionality and exceptional Danish craftsmanship. These values are integral to how we think, design and manufacture.
Much imitated but never equalled, VOLA has been the designers’ choice since 1968.
